Torque reversal and orbital profile of X-ray pulsar OAO 1657?415

چکیده
ABSTRACT OAO 1657?415 is an atypical supergiant X-ray binary among wind- and disc-fed systems, showing alternate spin-up/spin-down intervals lasting of the order tens days. We study different torque states based on spin history monitored by Fermi/Gamma-Ray Burst Monitor, together with fluxes from Swift/Burst Alert Telescope (BAT) Monitor All-sky Image/Gas Slit Camera. Its frequency derivatives are well correlated Swift/BAT during rapid spin-up episodes, anticorrelated spin-down not in between. The orbital profile episodes reduced a factor 2 around phases 0.2 0.8 compared to that episodes. hardness ratio also lower than close mid-eclipse, implying there more material between neutron star observer for these phases. These results indicate state connected flow scale support retrograde/prograde disc accretion scenario spin-down/spin-up reversal.

Orbital Parameters for the X-ray Pulsar Igr J16393-4643
With recent and archival Rossi X-Ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) X-ray measurements of the heavily obscured X-ray pulsar IGR J16393-4643, we carried out a pulse timing analysis to determine the orbital parameters. Assuming a circular orbit, we phase-connected data spanning over 1.5 years. The most likely orbital solution has a projected semi-major axis of 43 ± 2 lt-s and an orbital period of 3.6875 ...
متن کاملTorque Reversal in Accretion-Powered X-ray Pulsars
Accretion-powered X-ray pulsars 4U 1626-67, GX 1+4, and OAO 1657-415 have recently shown puzzling torque reversals. These reversals are characterized by short time scales, on the order of days, nearly identical spin-up and spin-down rates, and very small changes in X-ray luminosity. We propose that this phenomenon is the result of sudden dynamical changes in the accretion disks triggered by a g...
متن کاملX-ray and Infrared Enhancement of Anomalous X-ray Pulsar
The long-term ( 1.5 yr) X-ray enhancement and the accompanying infrared enhancement light curves of the anomalous X-ray pulsar 1E 2259+586 following the major bursting epoch can be accounted for by the relaxation of a fallback disk that has been pushed back by a gamma-ray flare. The required burst energy estimated from the results of our model fits is low enough for such a burst to have remaine...
متن کاملAnomalous X-ray Pulsar 1E 1048.1–5937: Pulsed Flux Flares and Large Torque Variations
We report on continued monitoring of the Anomalous X-ray pulsar (AXP) 1E 1048.1–5937 using the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer. We confirm that this pulsar has exhibited significant pulsed flux variability. The principal features of this variability are two pulsed X-ray flares. Both flares lasted several months and had well-resolved few-week–long rises. The long rise times of the flares are a pheno...
متن کاملX-ray and Gamma-ray Emission from Pulsar Magnetospheres
For polar-cap models based on electromagnetic cascades induced by curvature radiation of beam particles we calculate broad-band high-energy spectra of pulsed emission expected for classical (∼ 10 G) and millisecond pulsars (∼ 10 G). The spectra are a superposition of curvature and synchrotron radiation components and most of their detailed features depend significantly on the magnetic field str...
